What is The Invisible Beauty?
About the project
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote “what is essential is invisible to the eye”
And beauty is no exception.
Behind every product, formula and launch lies an unseen world of expertise, intuition, decisions, failures and people whose work makes the visible possible.
The Invisible Beauty is Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna’s editorial project dedicated to this hidden dimension of the industry: the stories behind success, the turning points behind change, and the human skills shaping what comes next.
Through the voices of the companies themselves, these pages reveal beauty from the inside, where what remains unseen is often what matters most.

Question 01 / 05 — Invisible People
What is the most undervalued job in the beauty industry?
The people who transform ideas into something that can actually exist.
We often celebrate creative directors, founders or finished products, but there is an entire community of professionals whose contribution remains almost invisible.
They stand exactly where imagination meets reality. Their expertise, attention and passion turn a concept into a reliable product that can be manufactured consistently and delivered with care.
In many ways, they are the true authors of innovation because they give substance to creativity.
Without their hands, knowledge and commitment, even the most inspiring vision would remain nothing more than an interesting sketch.
02
Question 02 / 05 — Invisible Failure
There is always a project that looked solid on paper but didn’t work out. What did it teach your company that no success ever could?
One of the greatest lessons we have learned is that technical excellence alone is never enough.
We have seen projects that were perfectly engineered, beautifully designed and commercially promising, yet did not succeed because they reached the market too early or addressed the wrong need.
Those experiences taught us to listen more carefully, observe more closely and never confuse innovation with novelty. True innovation begins with understanding: the market, the context and the people for whom a solution is being created.
Continuous improvement reminds us that every project is a dialogue, not simply a demonstration of expertise. Success validates our experience, while challenges give us the opportunity to question our assumptions, refine our approach and grow.
03
Question 03 / 05 — Invisible Future
Where is beauty heading in the next 3 years? What do you see that market reports haven't captured yet?
The next evolution of beauty will not simply be driven by new technologies or new materials. It will be driven by meaning. Consumers are becoming remarkably good at recognising authenticity, and they increasingly value products that reflect care, consistency and purpose rather than constant novelty. We believe craftsmanship will become a competitive advantage once again, not as nostalgia, but as a modern way of creating quality. As artificial intelligence accelerates creativity, human judgement will become even more valuable. The brands that stand out will be those capable of combining technological innovation with genuine expertise, cultural sensitivity and attention to every invisible detail.
04
Question 04 / 05 — Invisible Value
Is there a claim you use internally, among colleagues, that you would never put in a press release, but that describes exactly how you work?
We often remind ourselves that great products are built by great people.
As a family-owned company, we have always believed that our greatest strength lies not only in our expertise, but also in the relationships we build every day. At Baralan, great products are created by people who feel connected, trusted and inspired.
We are not simply colleagues working toward the same goal, but a community that shares responsibility, supports one another and grows together. That sense of belonging may never appear in a brochure or press release, yet it shapes the way we work every day.
05
Question 05 / 05 — Invisible Match
What is the part of your work that clients appreciate most, but that you could never put in a sales brochure?
Probably our ability to listen before we act. Clients often come to us believing they need an idea to solve a problem. More often than not, what they really need is someone who understands the story they are trying to tell and helps translate it into a tangible experience. At Baralan, active listening is not simply part of the process: it is the starting point of innovation.
This is also the thinking behind Baralan Innovation Voices, an opportunity to connect directly with our clients, listen to their perspectives and create a meaningful space for dialogue around their needs, challenges and ambitions. This process cannot be listed as a product feature because it is built on trust, shared curiosity and authentic human connections.
Sometimes the most valuable contribution we make is not proposing an answer immediately, but asking the right questions until the best solution naturally emerges. We put people first, because behind every brief, every challenge and every project there are individuals, relationships and shared goals. That kind of partnership may be difficult to capture in a sales brochure, but it is often what clients value most and remember long after a project ends.

Question 04 / 05 — Invisible FUTURE
Where is beauty heading in the next 3 years?
Beauty is moving from products to systems, and from cosmetic promises to evidence-led, pharma-inspired efficacy. Consumers will no longer ask only, “Does this product work?” They will ask, “How does it work, how quickly does it work, what proof supports it, and how does it fit my life, my environment, my biology and my individual needs?” As a result, personalization, clinical credibility and sustainability will cease to be points of differentiation and become the baseline expectation. Brands will need to deliver on all three simultaneously, without compromising performance or experience.
The next frontier is optimization: beauty that adapts, protects, prevents and supports wellbeing with a level of precision and credibility traditionally associated with health. The most successful products will not simply solve a need; they will integrate seamlessly into consumers’ daily lives, evolving alongside their changing habits, environments and expectations. What market reports often fail to capture is the emotional dimension of this transformation. Consumers are not only searching for better performance. They are searching for reassurance, control and confidence in an increasingly complex world. They want products that help them feel understood as individuals, not targeted as demographics.
In the next three years, the brands that win will be those that combine scientific credibility with emotional relevance—delivering not just results, but a deeper sense of trust, empowerment and connection.
04
Question 04 / 05 — Invisible VALUE
Is there a claim you use internally, among colleagues, that you would never put in a press release, but that describes exactly how you work?
We are the invisible engine behind the beauty brands that want to lead.
03
Question 03 / 05 — Invisible Value
What is the belief on which you built your company, one the market took years to come around to, and that now everyone takes for granted?
Beauty brands do not need another supplier; they need a partner, secret weapon that helps them see, create and move before the market does.
02
Question 02 / 05 — Invisible MATCH
What is the part of your work that clients appreciate most, but that you could never put in a sales brochure?
Clients often appreciate most what is hardest to describe: the confidence we give them when an idea is still only a spark. Before there is a formula, there is uncertainty. Is the trend real? Is the claim credible? Is the texture right for the consumer? Can it scale?
We help clients turn inspiration into direction, ambiguity into clarity and possibilities into decisions. Whether starting from a blank page or from one of our innovation-platforms as a springboard, we provide the expertise and perspective needed to move forward.
We are not just developing products; we are helping brands anticipate where the market is heading and determine how they can lead it. That strategic partnership will never appear in a sales brochure, yet it is often what clients value most. More than a supplier, we strive to be the kind of B2B partner that helps turn a promising idea into a commercial success.

Question 01 / 05 — Invisible People
What do you do that the world doesn't see?
At Beautyvibe, the beauty world sees the final result: a formula, a texture, a claim, a launch. What it does not see is the ecosystem of expertise, foresight and invisible choreography that brings it to life: marketing identifying cultural shifts and decoding tomorrow's consumer desires; R&D pushing beyond existing ingredient boundaries and transforming emerging science into market-defining performance; packaging challenging industry conventions to reimagine how sustainability, desirability and functionality coexist; and regulatory navigating tomorrow's landscape before it takes shape, turning uncertainty into competitive advantage. Our work goes beyond manufacturing beauty products. We connect science, trend intelligence, consumer emotion and industrial reality, transforming ideas into products that brands can trust, launch and lead with.

Question 05 / 05 — Invisible Future
Where is beauty heading in the next 3 years? What do you see that market reports haven't captured yet?
Most reports talk about the convergence of beauty and wellness. I believe they still underestimate its scale.
Consumers are becoming less focused on looking younger and more interested in living better for longer. Skin quality, longevity, sleep, recovery, hormonal balance, scalp health, and overall vitality are becoming the new frontiers of beauty. Beauty is evolving from appearance enhancement to holistic wellbeing.
Yet one thing will never change: beyond science and performance, beauty must always inspire, delight, and make us dream.
04
Question 04 / 05 — Invisible Value
What is the belief on which you built your company, one the market took years to come around to, and that now everyone takes for granted?
Our belief has always been simple: put the consumer at the center of every decision.
When we develop a product, we don't just study consumers, we try to think like them. We see them as trusted friends who value honesty, transparency, expertise, and reliability.
Today, everyone talks about consumer centricity. We have always believed that truly understanding and empathizing with consumers is what makes the difference.
03
Question 03 / 05 — Invisible Failure
There is always a project (a formula, a launch, a partnership) that looked solid on paper but didn't work out. What did it teach your company that no success ever could?
We learned that a great idea and strong determination are essential, but they are not enough. Every initiative must address a real consumer need and be fully aligned with the brand's positioning.
Success in our industry is not just about creativity. It requires discipline, expertise, and a deep understanding of the market.
That lesson taught us that execution and relevance matter as much as innovation.
02
Question 02 / 05 — Invisible Match
What is the part of your work that clients appreciate most, but that you could never put in a sales brochure?
The human side of creating something meaningful together.
Every project brings together different skills, experiences, and points of view. But the real magic happens when these capabilities connect and work as one.
The result is never a simple addition of expertise. It is a multiplier effect, where collaboration, trust, and shared ambition create outcomes that none of us could achieve alone.
That's why we love building Value Together.
Together with our suppliers. Together with our customers. Together with our partners.
Because the best achievements are never built alone.

Question 01 / 05 — Invisible People
Your company has gained a certain level of recognition. What is the reality that those working from the inside know, that those looking from the outside still haven't understood?
What people see from the outside is a trusted brand and high-quality products.
What they often do not see is the authenticity of the people behind them. A team united by a genuine belief in our values, a deep sense of responsibility, and a passion for improving people's wellbeing.
Behind every product lies extensive expertise, scientific knowledge, and meticulous attention to detail.
Every formula, every ingredient, and every decision is the result of years of experience, continuous learning, and a commitment to excellence.
Our true strength is not only what we create, but the people who create it: individuals who combine competence, dedication, and purpose to transform a shared vision into products that consumers can trust every day.

Question 05 / 05 —INVISIBLE FUTURE
If you could carry just one skill you currently have into the future, which would it be — and why will it be even more valuable tomorrow?
Strategic Empathy. The ability to understand people beyond what they say and translate emotions, behaviours and unmet needs into better decisions. As technology and AI make information increasingly accessible, competitive advantage will come from those who can connect human insights with innovation, creating products, experiences and businesses that generate both relevance and long-term value.
04
Question 04 / 05 — INVISIBLE VALUE
What is the one thing you stopped offering — a service, a format, a category — that turned out to be the most important choice in defining who you truly are?
One of the most important choices we made was to move away, from a communication perspective, from the traditional concept of make-up as a broad assortment of colours, shades and formulas.
Instead, we embraced a more evolved vision in which cosmetic efficacy takes centre stage and colour becomes a value-added element that enhances the complexion rather than transforms it. This approach led us to develop our “Skincare in Make-Up” philosophy, promoting a more conscious and sustainable idea of beauty, where skin health and product performance come before colour itself.
03
Question 03 / 05 —INVISIBLE FAILURE
Have you ever changed your mind about something you considered a cornerstone of your business model? What convinced you, and what did it cost to do so?
A company's vision and mission may be built on strong foundations, but the assumptions behind them can evolve over time. The key is to remain open to refining and reshaping those foundations when necessary, so that the overall structure remains strong and relevant. In our experience, change is rarely the result of sudden or radical decisions. More often, it comes from continuous listening, observation and dialogue, which gradually offer new perspectives and opportunities for improvement.
When approached this way, evolution becomes a natural process rather than a disruption, with limited impact on costs and a much greater impact on long-term relevance and sustainability.

Question 02 / 05 — INVISIBLE MATCH
Is there a trade show, a meeting at Cosmoprof, or a hallway conversation that generated a real turning point? Not just a contact: a genuine operational or strategic shift?
We have experienced several significant moments that generated opportunities not only for revenue growth, but also for strategic development.
At Cosmoprof Las Vegas in 2022, we laid the foundations for a collaboration with a major retail chain that continued at Cosmoprof Miami in 2024, helping us refine our vision and market positioning.
Cosmoprof Hong Kong was equally important. In 2024, we were selected by a leading omnichannel distributor, while in 2023 we launched a co-marketing project with South Africa's largest retail group.
These experiences played a key role in shaping our international growth strategy.

Question 01 / 05 — Invisible People
Is there a role in your company that, if it disappeared, would make everything fall apart, but that no one outside your organization knows exists?
A delicate role, one that exists beyond any formal job description: the theatre director.
The person who must always maintain a 360-degree view of everything happening on stage. Someone able to guide each individual so that they fully understand and embrace their role, while ensuring that every movement, interaction and contribution fits harmoniously into the bigger picture.
In an industry as complex as cosmetics, where creativity, technical expertise, operations and commercial vision must coexist, this invisible role often becomes essential. It is the responsibility of connecting people, aligning objectives and transforming individual efforts into a shared direction.
Most importantly, it requires balancing vision with results, ensuring that every person feels like an integral part of the journey and of the success that follows.

Question 01 / 05 — Invisible People
Is there a role in your company that, if it disappeared, would make everything fall apart, but that no one outside your organization knows exists?
There isn’t a single role, but rather a layer of expertise that often goes unnoticed: the people who sit between development and production, translating ideas into something that can actually be built.
They fine-tune processes, solve unexpected issues, and ensure consistency at scale. Without them,
innovation would remain theoretical, and production would lose precision.
Their value lies in making complexity invisible, ensuring that what reaches the end user feels simple,
intuitive, and reliable.
02
Question 02 / 05 — Invisible Match
Is there a trade show, a meeting at Cosmoprof, or a hallway conversation that generated a real turning point?
Some of the most important shifts didn’t happen in formal meetings, but in direct conversations with professionals. Cosmoprof has always been a place where these exchanges happen naturally. Through those moments, we built meaningful relationships with hairstylists and barbers, transforming dialogue into collaboration.
One particularly significant encounter was with Josh Lamonaca, which marked a key step in our growth within the barber segment. It wasn’t just a partnership; it was a new perspective that influenced how we approach product development and communication in that world.
Sometimes, a simple conversation can redefine
direction more than a structured strategy.
03
Question 03 / 05 — Invisible Failure
What is the decision you made that, at the time, seemed wrong to almost everyone, and that today you stand behind completely?
When we introduced compact, lightweight, and colorful hair dryers, the market was still strongly oriented toward a very different idea of professional tools: heavier, elongated, and predominantly black. That choice initially felt out of alignment with expectations. However, we believed that ergonomics, usability, and visual identity would become increasingly relevant. Over time, that intuition proved to be well-founded. The same happened with T-shaped dryers. Initially perceived as a passing trend, they are now becoming a new standard. Sometimes innovation requires the courage to anticipate, even when the context isn’t fully ready to embrace it.
04
Question 04 / 05 — Invisible Value
What is the belief on which you built your company, one the market took years to come around to, and that now everyone takes for granted?
We built our company on the belief that quality is not a feature, it’s a responsibility.
For a long time, this meant investing more time, more care, and more precision than the market seemed to require. But over the years, that approach proved essential.
Today, high quality is something the market expects as a given, but for us it has always been the starting point. It’s not just about performance, but about reliability over time, consistency in production, and trust.
What is now taken for granted is what shaped our identity from the very beginning.
05
Question 05 / 05 — Invisible Future
Which human skill will be impossible to replace with artificial intelligence in the next 10 years?
The ability to build real relationships will remain irreplaceable. Our customer care is not just about providing support, it’s a continuous dialogue that helps us understand the market, monitor product performance, and stay connected to real needs. This extends to our network of ambassadors: hairstylists and barbers around the world with whom we maintain daily contact. These exchanges go beyond products, they are about experiences, feedback, and shared growth. Even in an increasingly digital world, direct interaction, especially during fairs and events, remains essential. It’s in these moments that you capture what data alone cannot fully express.
