In skin care products, it is used as an emulsion thickener, gelling agent and antioxidant and when incorporated into skin creams, gives consistency to oilgels. The addition of rice wax makes emulsions w/o pleasant touch, whose application improves the skin feel (soft and non-greasy skin). It contains squalene which can help restore the skins hydration and can form thin films which help protect from UV light. In some formulations, rice bran wax is used as a wax substitute of carnauba and candelilla and now it has become an important ingredient in mascara, providing a shiny finish.
