He was Assistant Professor at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Rockville, MD, and Visiting Professor at the Institute of Human Virology, Baltimore, MD. He is the Vice-President of the Italian Society of Nutraceuticals SINUT. His main field of research focuses on the functional roles of food components and the study of centenarians as a model of successful aging. He is co-author of more than 200 scientific publications and book chapters.
