Very Peri is Color of the Year 2022, as announced by Pantone, the global authority for the universal language of color. A shade of periwinkle blue with a violet-red undertone that combines the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red, creating a mix that best represents the upcoming season of renewal and novelty.
“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
Very Peri is a hymn to hope and trust in change, after many months of doubt, fear and social distancing. For the first time in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year Program, a new color has been created, because the current times require unconventional choices. “It reflects the innovation and transformation taking place in the world,” added Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color of the Year Institute. “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication and as a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red-violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lie before us.”
PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri perfectly suits the language of beauty. The color can create intense shades for eyes, nails and especially hair, from glitter and glam to dusty opaque. Even packaging can find new opportunities for expression: as Pantone points out, blending the undertones of faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and emotion of red, PANTONE 17-3938 is an ideal shade to use in graphic and multimedia design.
Color and beauty: an inseparable union, which Pantone will tell at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2022.
